Push polling or whatever the hell that was

I just hung up on a pollster. After taking the call and sitting through a relatively sane recorded message regarding GOPAC and grassroots training I was asked the following question:

Do you think the liberals want the US to win the war on terror while President Bush is still in office?

What the hell?

1) There is no such thing as the war on terror, terror is a tactic not an enemy.

2) There is no chance at winning in Iraq while President Bush is in office. If we can win in Iraq it will take a long, long time.

3) As a socially libertine, fiscally conservative libertarian leaning Republican, how creepy can one question get?

I think I have figured out what it is about Dawkins that bugs me. He has the same black or white world view that my mother does just on the opposite side. The whole “If you’re not with us your against us” construct is just so . . . cultish.

Long live laissez faire tolerance. I expect the religous and irreligous alike to allow others to believe as they will without insult. I understand that the religious often insult atheists, but the cure for that is not an escalation of the conflict by being jerks in return, I would argue that the correct course would be to argue for a tolerant and inclusive attitude from all, not to respond in a similarly divisive and petty way.
